Boomkat Product Review:
Shapednoise, Ascion & D. Carbone’s Repitch Recordings get buckwild with a global axis of hardcore futurists; Gabber Eleganza, TSVI & Randomer, Baseck & Aura-T09, DJ Plant Texture, Buttechno, DJ Loser, MarcelDune, Strahinja Arbutina.
The compilation marks 10 years of the label on experimental hardcore techno’s frontlines, the variation on a theme speaking to the roving tastes of the trio and their combined decades of experience giving ravers something to gnash and stomp to.
Buttechno gives a big highlight with the warehouse pounder ‘Ghost Yunost’ meshing jibber-jaw trance-techno arps to cavernous kicks and seething hi-hat patterns, and Greek rave ringleader DJ Loser supplies a proper rocket in the trancey barnstormer ‘Faith Over Fear’, next to the hi-intensity stomp of ‘Violet Aisle’ by fellow Hell(enic)raiser MarcelDune.
Closer to home in the label’s native Italy, Shapednoise and Gabber Eleganza chew up drill and jungle in the mechanically-jawed ‘Mastice Riddim (VIP)’, while Bari’s DJ Plant Texture herds the pendulous breakbeat hardcore trample of ’Threat The Music With Respect’, and label capo D. Carbone twats out the bullish ‘Hypnotic Experimental Dance’. We also catch hard drum dynamos TSVI & Randomer on a squashed dancehall techno swivel with ‘Overbit’ and Croatia’s Strahinja Arbutina on the unyielding 2-step noise seethe of ‘Digital Hoarder’.
