Boomkat Product Review:
Finland's Halvtrak does UK, Chicago and Detroit house styles with a wickedly skewed twist on the 'Dust Under Bridges EP'. His 'Finding Yourself' starts out with a straight enough jackers groove but soon you begin to realise that that bass is just a bit rude, sickly even, and when the synths join in it's all just so slightly off key and strange you'll be questioning your own sanity before 'A Thousand Years' follows with a mix of oriental motifs and drum programming somewhere between classic Derrick May and Apple's Funky prototypes. His 'Barracuda' dices with some decidedely crazed and kinky drums, alloyed with mystic synth vibes and ill-timed bass coming off like Legowelt on a mad one, and the delirious arpeggios and drums of 'Face Two' are pitched to feel like they're about to careen out of control at any second.
