Boomkat Product Review:
Interesting new EP from In A Taut Line and BD1982 on Diskotopia. Having debuted on a split with Ghost Box-affiliated Hong Kong In The 60s, IATL impresses further here with a Detroit-flavoured techno jam that perhaps also owes something to the isolationist house crunch of Actress. PhOtOmachine's remix takes into ebulliently groovy, neatly engineered electro-tech climes, irresistible really. It's actually BD1982's 'Calenture' that leads the EP, a winning fusion of moody 80s synths, scuttling drum programming and a ghetto bounce somewhere between dancehall and kuduro, with a hint of Shangaan to its galloping toms and hi-hats. Pacheko's remix is cut from the same exactly cloth, but beefs it up for maximum impact in UK Funky and fidget club contexts, while Murlo ups the tropical vibes with marimba action aplenty before chucking in some squalling electro builds.
