Boomkat Product Review:
DJ Scotch Egg gets his arsenal of Gameboys out and delivers one of the more unusual entries into the Load Records catalogue. That might not be quite as ridiculous a scenario as at first it sounds: I suppose if there could be a Lightning Bolt of 8-bit sound processing, the UK based programmer would be a reasonable recipient of that title. While these tracks might sound reprehensibly silly, you can't help but sit back in admiration at how detailed and technically impressive some of it is. 'Scotch Grind' is one of the more energetic 60 seconds in the ever-expanding canon of Nintendo-generated music. It's a bit like Napalm Death re-scoring Castlevania. In a rare expansion of his sound palette, Scotch Egg goes for some chaotic swingtime noise with MoHa! and Noxagt guitarist Anders Hana, who helps tear through 'Scotch Jazz' with some style. Bizarre.
