Boomkat Product Review:
Bit of a shocker right here from Philadelphia's Lanterns, veering between scuzziest garage rock - including a cover of The Stooges 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' - and darkest post-industrial soundscaping. Revving up with the location recording of 'Don't Say Much' we're flung into a pit of white hot guitar distortion and snotty vocals on 'Out Of Our Heads' and the face-melting 'Dream Mine', before we're consumed by the rattling percussions and gloaming ambient doom of 'Fool's Gold' and the fu*king excellent darkwave torpor of Untitled'. 'You Can't Deny Me (Revisited)' soon snaps us out of the trance with a primal blast of howling feedback and amp worship, while 'The Dogs Are After Me' pummels us with a slaughtered, motorik take on The Stooges classic, and 'Train Song' chugs on with killer, blues-rasped vocals and steam-powered rhythms. "…like dreaming of fingerpopping the hottest girl in class, but you're actually facedeep in a vat of tar." Highly recommended!
