Boomkat Product Review:
Their eighteenth release, this album finds LA group Lucky Dragons continuing to strive for a kind of cultural togetherness through a sound that hints at a kind of 'world music', all filtered through a post-noise, avant-rock filter. There's a slightly wet & woolly feel to all this however, and it's one of those records in which the various players sound like they're directionlessly horsing around with alien apparatus. Thankfully, a bit of clever digital intervention saves the record from wishy washy pots'n'pans tedium, imposing a neat rhythmic structure when needed, or displacing the music into the realms of abstraction in other instances, as on the oddly .snd-like 'Desert Rose' and its pristine, fast-looping glitches.
