Boomkat Product Review:
Probably the most anticipated Pinch material since last years huge 'underwater dancehall' long player, the tectonic head honcho finally unloads his most blatant techno dubstep crossover to date with '136 trek' b/w the equally awesome 'Dr Carlson'. Rolling in a few bpm higher than your average dub techno cut, but still leaving enough room for downpitching, '136 trek' explores the grey area between Bristolian steppers dub weight and Berlin style dub techno momentum with fantastic results. Pushing forward with a steady 4/4 pulse, the track develops a huge undercarriage of sub pressure to off-set the beat into skankable patterns ripe for blending with compatible dub techno standards or equally with deeper strains of dubstep, its just heaving. 'Dr Carlson' on the A-side sticks closer to the roughed up dubstep template he's better known for with a fractured minimal stepper in the same vein as the excellent Pangaea release for Hessle Audio or T++'s killer 'space break' cut, basically proper forward thinking ruffage that just slays it. Peverelist's Punch Drunk imprint is fast becoming the most urgently collectable label around, we recommend you get on this pronto.
