Berlin-based producer/DJ Mor Elian follows up last year's 'Diva Test' with two more wobbly, club-ready bass mutations.
There's something unexpected happening in Berlin at the moment. Bored with the monotony of minimal techno, plenty of the local scene's sharpest minds have helped shift the focus from booming, Berghain-appropriate kick drum worship towards a woozier, bassier sound that's heating up parties no longer relegated to the fringes. Mor Elian and her Fever AM imprint are an important driving force behind the change, and 'Double Dip' helps solidify the producer's personal sound - a mix of psychedelic, acidic earworms, swinging kicks and soundsystem-punishing subs.
The title track is the big draw here, a peak time banger that never tips into 4/4, always garnishing its undulating rhythm with subtle 'ardkore hoover womps and choppy, lysergic vocal snips. On the flip, 'Nepo Nepo' is a weirdy wiggler, led by brain tickling FM vibrations and a beat that's so broken it barely pierces the hallucinogenic atmosphere. Big.
