Boomkat Product Review:
Monofonus Press have the honour of issuing the first vinyl by primeval Texan drone creators Thousand Foot Whale Claw. It's an impressive slab, posited on the same cloud or ledge as Expo 70 and even Pye Corner Audio, surveying similarly evocative visions of krautrock drone minimalism and pulsing, deserted autobahn rhythms which seem to be cut from far longer, ritualist epics. From an overview, the LP works to a palindromic, mobius-like schematic, leading in with plangent guitars and super-wide, sky-consuming subbass drones before starting a more positive ascension, pushed across the expanse of 'Phobos' to the incredible, slow-housed space-trance acid groove 'Ganymede' and the abstract vacuum of 'Veritas'. Until someone invents the mobius-strip LP we'll have to keep turning this one over, but we'd recommend making yourself an endless copy to achieve the best results. Tipped!
