Boomkat Product Review:
*Gnod's electronic brain, Chris Haslam aka Dwellings delivers this killer set of brittle, biting techno rhythms* Swiftly proceeding his part in the mighty 'Dwellings & Druss' LP for Trensmat, Gnod's electronic brain, Chris Haslam aka Dwellings steps solo with the 'marish machine visions of 'Don't Say Nothing' on the group's own Tesla Tapes. On four tracks he harnesses writhing, staccato and motorik patterns from a Vermona DRM analog drum machine, alloyed with strafing synth shapes and dubbed out to noxious clouds of noise and drone. They're ritual, technihilistic preparations for a world of information overload, steeling the body to a world outside where harmony and melody attempt to vainly manipulate. The volley of machine gun snares and choking atmopsheres in 'Frame Speed' can be taken as a follow-up warning shot to his monolithic 'Defeatism', while 'Drone Invasion' is uncompromising, rugged hypno-jakk. 'Holographic Mirror' is the oddest mutation, patterning almost 2-step-like hi-hats into a brittle, biting techno rhythm under apocalyptic conditions, and 'Wave Propagation' leans forward into a wormhole of mesmerising dark ambient ciphers. Big recommendation.
