Boomkat Product Review:
Bumper pack of breakbeat badness from Max D's Dolo Percussion, following the handy ’Dolo 4’ catch-up with 8 new beats for dancers and DJs
With inimitable freehand funk, the Future Times bossman tweaks the bones of myriad classic templates ranging from Washington Go-Go to New Jack Swing, B-More breaks, 2-step garage, electro, ballroom and grime in his seriously swung and syncopated style.
They’re properly built for dancers and DJs to show off in-the-mix and on-the-’floor, keeping it loosey goosey and drunken master style between the stumbling 2.5-step drums of ‘Dolo 18’, the bell-rocking swagger of ‘Dolo 19’, the sizzling B-More chop up ‘Dolo 22’, and the moonboot bounce of sloshing gamelan percussion and quick/slow dubbing in ‘Dolo 24’.
Nobody gets us cutting rug quite like Dolo Percussion, and some of these new joints are devilishly strong, perfect for a home workout and miles better than a lockdown gym session that P.E. blert Joe Whatshishair.
