Boomkat Product Review:
Another long awaited drop from Ramp Recordings with the debut release proper from LA's Computer Jay with a pixel eaten fusion of brain-frying 8-Bit chiptune melodics and slumped post-Dilla bloop-hop. 'Distance' is the immediate dancefloor track, sounding like a face-on collision of Flying Lotus style mid tempo swing beats and the very finest Skwee electronics. It can get a bit overwhelming at times with some high end frequency abuse but in a club situation this will rule. 'Epiphany' on the underside slumps into a heavy hiphop groove skewed slightly off its axis for a hazy riddim effect, with an extra buff sheen of Commodore 64 made textures sounding like Zapp on 2CI. Fans of Joker, 2000F, Flylo, Zomby, Falty Dl and all that, this one's for you. Heavy.
