Boomkat Product Review:
Rabih Beaini follows his awesome 'Albidaya' LP with this double-pack of rugged noise techno excursions as Morphosis. Whilst sharing many elements in common with 'Albidaya' - a freedom of noisy, lushly discordant modular expression - these tracks are definitively more "techno"; powered by hulking bass rhythms in six tunnelling formations. His first plate clocks the corrosive modular squabble and lop-sided churn of 'Dismantle' - no melodies or hooks here, kids, just the wicked gritty stuff - and 'Tamrat Version' thuds something like an martian Funky rhythm. If you ask us; the 2nd plate, 'Music For Vampyr' is an essential: Part I, 'Arrival' builds a roiling head of horrific mentasm-like modulations descending to abyssal depths before a spooked organ resolution; in Part II 'Shadows' casts thumping bass and hypnotic organ amidst a swell of lip-smacking distortion, and part III 'Finale' scrambles what's left of your senses with total modular delirium. Really really strong EP this.
