Boomkat Product Review:
Domu returns to the sampling and bassline-sculpting strategies that defined his first Discotech EP with this new set of productions, dipping into funk, disco and more overtly soulful modes of electronic tinkering. Using the bottom-heavy, cut'n'paste approach of fellow Trebleo resident Lukid, Domu crafts a summery slice of slap bass-driven funk before delving into even more languid style 4/4 material, soaked in vinyl crackle on the sparkling, none more laid back 'Something Borrowed'. Finally, vocal and dub versions of 'Love Journey' fire up using a similar strategy. Key to the success of all this is the sheer weight and warmth of those low frequencies, which really set these productions apart from the work of so many peers.
