Boomkat Product Review:
Author, engineer and composer Tara Rodgers serves up another set of expertly-produced, pulsing analog techno that reminds fondly of the past without slipping into quaint nostalgia.
It would be fair to call Rodgers an electronic music historian, and she channels that expertise into four subtly floor-filling tracks on "Dimensions", her newest for DC's 1432R imprint. The kind of techno she makes is soulful and aware of the genre's roots, but not vintage for vintage's sake. On opener 'Undecagon' her understated vocals coo beneath raggedy (but perfectly mixed) analog beatbox loops, while 'Strawberry Moon' hits more euphoric heights as acidic, noisy chords echo around a driving 4/4. Closer 'Golden Hour Life on Mars' is our pick tho, a slow-building inverted banger that lets a hollow kick set the pace before erupting into bleep psychedelia at the half-way point. Trippy.
