Boomkat Product Review:
Vakula saddles up a proper band to trot thru a suite of stargazing tributes to The Doors, most specifically 'Dedicated To Jim Morrison'. Rather than a playing a straight cover album, the group riff on classic elements from the West Coast psychedelic unit's near-sacred corpus, taking artistic liberty to intersperse their gauzy strokes with William Blake poetry recited by Andrei Dubinin. As with everything gilded by Vakula's Midas touch, the production is pitch-perfect analog with the requisite amounta dust and hash in the studio air. The first side features those languorous vocals drifting along with opiated bliss, whereas the B-side is a mostly instrumental and seriously dodgy exercise in pub rock routines ripened for over 50s in stonewash Levis, thumbs tucked in belt loops and sloshing Carling on their cowboy boots.
