Boomkat Product Review:
Minimal Wave unearth a bulb of unreleased electro-pop duets from Deux, who previously dropped a highlight of last years 'Minimal Wave Tapes Volume One' compilation. The duo of Cati Tête and Gérard Pelletier produced a clutch of gorgeously simple and diverse French dance-pop songs between 1982 and 1985, many of which appear here. From 1983s 'Felicita' 7" we find the Italo spy-movie-tense title track and the elegantly droning but spiky 'Game And Performance' also included on the compilation, next to the Kraftwerkian coke-gaze of 'Paris/Orly' from the 1985s 'Europe' 7". The woozily raw and dissonant 'Le Couloir' is one of the highlights, next to the uptempo hero-beat of 'Sex and Trouble' and a really weird hybrid of sampled funk guitar and sludgily downtempo electro-funk on 'Ministry Of love' and ambiguous, Soft Cell-like wave of 'Le Camion', both like a soundtrack to the most brilliantly depressing bar you've ever been too. Excellent.
