Boomkat Product Review:
Marcus Intalex's Soul:r label has provided some quality surprises in the last 18 months with Martyn's ace 'Shadowcasting' 12" and a well thought label aesthetic devoted to the deeper side of D'n'B. The second installment of the DAT: Music series collates 22 tracks from the labels best producers with cuts from Instra:mental, S.P.Y vs Kiat, Kynx, S.T. Files, Commix, D-Bridge and Martyn. Instar:mental's 'Hunter' is an undoubted highlight, perhaps not cut for the floor, but a brilliant rhythm trip with silky jazz overtones probably better suited for the home listening posse. Equally the lush jazz vibes run deep on cuts like Lomax's 'resist' and Intalex's own 'Electrocution' comes close to the brilliant syncopations of Breakage with grainy textured atmospheres to match. For the deeper D'n'B heads this one a winner!
