Boomkat Product Review:
Subeena's Opit records drops one of the most exciting debuts we've heard in 2010, courtesy of Milyoo aka Tommy Wilson. 'Dasein' gives the first tangy taste of something exotic, robotic and just mildly neurotic, a boogie grooved, double timed collision of Actress-style compressed swing and fluttering IDM elements Gold Panda would be proud of. Following this, 'Multitude' quickly diverts down a side-street of slow/fast rhythm programming and Detroit stalker synths that tail us from the shadows into DBridge's Autonomic Quadrant. Finally 'Fayoh' switches the scene again, enticing us with plaintive Harold Budd-goes-House keys before dropping a payload of clipped brukstep beats and chilling Sci-fi synth strikes. If you like Actress, Instra:mental or Loops Haunt, you really, really should check this.
