Dark Was The Night (Red Hot Compilation)
It'd be fairly difficult to come up with any good reasons for not buying a copy of this compilation, apart from the unbelievable roster of talents assembled on the tracklist (seriously, it's got... everyone on it), all the proceeds go to the AIDS-awareness charity The Red Hot Organization. Exclusive tracks come from Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Beirut, Cat Power, Iron & Wine, Yo La Tengo, Feist, Sufjan Stevens and The National to name but a very few. Spread across two CDs or three LPs depending on your preference, there are some thirty-one tracks on offer, and the quality really does go far beyond anything you'd expect from a compilation, managing to sustain a remarkably high standard throughout. There's really not much to think about here, just snap one up...
