Boomkat Product Review:
Enigmatic, ornate Balearic creations from two young producers, backed with a tripping Ital remix. Aster debuted in 2011with a fine 12" for Mathematics, a crooked take on abstract Mediterranean groove built for dusky dances on the beach. Here they drop a simmering, UKF-compatible rhythm called 'Assis', swimming in magical chants and peppered with '80s synth flares, and a steadier mid-tempo flow called 'Lamneto Castellano' in a psychedelic style reminding of Portugal's Photonz. Flipside, their 'Danza' cut dallies with feathered, stepping syncopation and beautifully harmonised synth chorus, which Ital duly vamps with crisply synthetic yet satisfyingly roughed-up production sheen and a strident, offset rhythm for nocturnal voodoo action.
