Boomkat Product Review:
Excellent EP of electroid tech-house prods from Sardinia-via-Berlin’s Luca Cara, a.k.a. Spacetravel for recording purposes with Melliflow and Binh’s Time Passages, and now for the pedigree house of Perlon.
Falling very neatly on the label after the inventive grooves of Margaret Dygas’ Even 11 (such a bomb!), the eight tracks of Dancing Therapy also place an idiosyncratic spin on minimal house and techno’s very well tried-and-tested tropes.
Rifling the cabinets of classic Detroit, Chicago, Berlin and UK styles from the last 30 years, Spacetravel filters out and riffs on their slinkiest binds and spliced DNA, shaking his lean, crystalline plumage between the Drexciyan-tinged minimalism of Kill Divas and Random Bass’s Ifach-style wiggle on the first plate, to bump with frisky, tripped-out Boo Williams swing and parry in Ice Man, and freakish 313 electro-funk proper in Strange City on the 2nd plate.
