Boomkat Product Review:
Nate Young (Wolf Eyes), Neil Hagerty (Howling Hex), Charles Ballas (Formant), and Alexander Moskos (Drainolith) scare the f**k outta each other as Dan'l Boone for Drag City. Dubbed-off metallic skronk is the plat du jour, eschewing owt obviously "noisy" in favour of angular structures tumbling drum machines, precise chunks of electric guitar and scrambled vocals with a fractured, digitised, industrial-collage lucidity that's way more psychedelic and brain scrambling than the rote, indulgent, snobby pish that certain people still try to pass off as "underground psychedelia". Nay, there's a virulent venom and visceral electronic/electric edge to Dan'l Boone that'll hopefully kick some of their respective worshippers into gear here, from the inter-dimensional quiet-loud slashes of 'Pasadena Rings' to the prickling EBM pulses and skittish fraggle of 'Thee Testimonye of An Maiden' on the A-side, thru the demented motorik roil of 'Paper Tree Alley' and the syrupy dub exotica of 'Mindface' and the lysergic concoction of strafing samples and spooling, spewing minds in closer 'Hostage Rock'.
