CV x Actress Whitelabel
Finally pressed on wax - this crazy waking-dream hookup between Carmen Villain and Actress, featuring an exclusive CV cut lodged alongside an extended, subliminal and deadly sequence from Actress. V limited copies!
Carmen Villain’s phenomenal ‘Only Love From Now On’ full-length has been rinsed on repeat here since it came out early this year - one of 2022’s finest and most surprising albums, no question - but rather than pick a track to remix, Actress essentially un-stitches the whole album by using stems from every track to weave almost 10 minutes of dense, spacious, late night dubbed Techno that sounds like a lost cut from T++’s shortlived Din imprint or vintage Chain Reaction, played through a dense cloud of smoke.
On the flip, Villain’s 'A Year Ago' further explores her obsession with torched dub soundscapes, firing a flare deep into the abyss using half-speed percussion, melodica and gaseous pads to lift thru a Rhythm & Sound-influenced low-end tread. As the track slumps into its third act, obscured vocal layers peal thru the hazed atmosphere like a Grouper home recording spilling out the space echo. A lot of big references - but shit - it really is that good.
One time edition - V jaaaaaa.
