Düsseldorf's Durian Brothers collect all three of their brilliant 12"s issued 2009-2012 on Diskant. Their self-described "rough, dense, hypnotic clubmusic" is honed from a stripped down and physically tactile set-up of turntables prepared with elastic bands fed thru FX and sequencer to achieve jagged, off-centre rhythms emulating the inimitable percussive polyphony of African tribal music. In a now well-established German musical tradition, what is altered in translation results a instinctively effective set of rhythmelodies and textured harmonics that grip the hip and prod thine batty. They're best experienced in the club, but we'll happily make do with any bit of floor and the rattling polymetrics of 'Heat' or the intricate shuffle of 'Overexposed Scream Contest', and the 10 minute full body workout, 'Inside Palace'. And even in case you're already familiar with their reduced distillation of Konono No.1 and Shackleton-esque voodoo cuts double deep in the visceral, discordant charge of new bonus track 'Angstbirne'. Highly Recommended!
