Boomkat Product Review:
Shrill-voiced legend Antony Hegarty is back, and while ‘Cut World’ might not be a new album proper, it’s a good enough stop-gap for those of you dying for fresh material. Hegarty kicks things off with the album’s only exclusive composition, the title track ‘Cut Hands’, and sets the pace with this richly orchestrated epic. The whole album was recorded with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra, so hearing fleshed out versions of some of the standout gems of his career sounds like Hegarty is rewarding us just for being fans. These versions are so different from the originals that they almost stand up as new works, and the care and attention put into ‘Cut World’ makes it worth the asking price alone. The fact that you get Antony riffing on feminism is just the icing on the cake. Recommended.
