Boomkat Product Review:
Downwards return with a debut EP from Karl Meier and Stave's Jon Krohn aka Talker, offering 3 epic slabs of bleak rhythm n' Noise, including an extended restructure by Karl O'connor. The O'Connor edit spans the whole of the A-side, an industrial-strength slow jam configured around a funereal, pulsing kickdrum that reminds us of a toughened take on Depeche Mode's 'Blasphemous Rumours' stripped bare. When the percussion starts to build it still offers no relief, it's just one of those perfectly constructed tracks that builds tension from end-to-end. 'Carrier' on the flip is more bombastic and corrosive, before 'Black Snake' ends proceedings with beautifully eroded ambience, an echo of a song buried beneath layers of fuzz and distortion, like an industrial take on classic Fennesz.
