Boomkat Product Review:
Liquid City Motors mesh Detroit Jit and UK jungle tekno on their banging first outing with Dublin’s Glacial Industries.
The formula is simple and straight forward enough, but the magick lies in the their uncanny mixing trickery, biting point drums and off key tonal arrangements, making their sound feel simultaneously dead familiar yet alien.
On Centrifuge they come off like a super-compressed YouTube vid of Zomby experimenting with Belle Isle styles, before the hard-working Catalytic Converter ifucks with our spatial perceptions, burying a rolling breaks under weirdly foregrounded snares and chords.
Best of all is the whipsmart fusion of icepick Detroit electro snares and rudeboy jungle pressure in Call The Specialists In, which sounds like the Stingray going in on DJ Tre’s It’s House Hybrid, while Sinsimilla Ave feels like a DJ Tango acid attack, and Current Source sustains that shelter skelter rave momentum to the final strokes.
