Boomkat Product Review:
Recent Richard Chartier releases have been characterised by rather industrial sounding dronescapes, particularly his 'Archival' series of works, which revisited his synthesizer compositions from the early nineties. "Current" marks a reprisal of Chartier's early works which often teetered on the periphery of audibility, at the very highest end of the frequency range. The single, twenty-minute piece on this disc begins in such a fashion, infinitesimally fleshing itself out into something occupying a greater bandwidth until by the halfway mark the minuscule, piercing tones have dispersed into a nebulous yet discreet haze. As with all Chartier's work it's fascinating, detailed stuff but never an easy listen.
