Crooked Rain Crooked Rain (Deluxe UK Edition)
This special reissue of Pavement's classic "Crooked Rain Crooked Rain" album couldn't have been released at a more poignant time - not only because of the 10 year's since its release, but also because of the indebtedness the band must surely feel towards John Peel - a man who did so much to give the band a platform in their early days. By the time this album came out Pavement were already known by a much wider spectrum of listeners, it even reached the number 15 spot in the album charts, something achieved in no small part by Peel's tireless championing of the music he loved. (I remember hearing Peel play the debut album from Trumans Water in its entirety over the course of one show - totally crazy but inspired plugging for a band with no track record, that's genius for ya). Anyway, this deluxe double cd comes housed in an embossed, die-cut slipcase, with a 64 page bound book containing never before seen photos, posters, setlists, ephemera and essays by the band. The CDs contain the original 12 songs, plus an additional 37 tracks, many of which have never been heard before, including 13 studio outtakes and 12 B sides and even the Peel Session from back in '94 I remember hanging onto in battered cassette format back in the day.
