Boomkat Product Review:
It's sometimes too easy to be harsh on Kromestar and his buddy F-One when they have such a high workrate turning out identikit riddims, but when they come up with beauties like this it's all forgiven. 'Crackpipe' comes in the same lineage as D1's seminal 'Crack Bong', referencing the very hard stuff not out of respect we'd imagine (kids, don't do it!) but more for the connotations of extremity and effect. It's a brutal joint, featuring the pair tucking into a filth coated wriggler with a burrowing synthline feeding back and into itself with a fierce rimshot lead shift to shunt it in the right direction. Heady stuff. If 'Crack Pipe' is the hit, 'Mad fever' is the succeeding after effects with a disorientating reeler truly fitting the 'Mongrel Music' tag applied by Skream to cover the swathes of Wonky electronical gear like this coming from the likes of Ikonika, Zomby and co. Deranged wildout tracks for the party crew.
