Boomkat Product Review:
Nashville's Cortney Tidwell (yes, it's not a misspelling) is a real oddity in the world of Country music - fusing her roots with shoegazer sounds, electronics and jazz influences with unexpected twists at every turn. Track one is the real winner, with a gorgeous synthesized bassline and reverberating production, the fusion reminding me very much of Laura Veirs at her absolute best but with enough emotion and Bjork-ish vocal trickery to make this stand out all on it's own. As the record goes on we are treated to more slowed-down alt.Country goodness, each seemingly tugging on the heartstrings a little more, and every track retains that sense of class, style and downright songwriting skill that makes us gag for something a little more substantial (come on, 6 tracks?? We want more!). Absolutely lovely.
