Boomkat Product Review:
USA Astralwerks release this awesome dope compilation of exclusive joints from our hip hop electronic mix-up heroes. 11 tracks deep. El-P kicks it off with 'Day After The Day After', a sprightly sci-fi sun rays fuelled soul beat jam El-Producto style with beats kicking the sand in your face. The killer new Antipop Consortium cut 'Crab Lice', sounds like the 'Shopping Carts Crashing' album era - sparse drop out scratches and avant boom bip bombing. Above and beyond the call of dopeness. Planet E superstar Recloose shifts into electro house mode for the fantastic 'Chiqwanga' and This Kid Named Miles aka Breakestra man Miles Tackitt shows his true talent when operating with me myself and I on 'Slight Amnesia', rocking the beats, turntables, cello and guitar in one man band stylee for a skunked up funk cut n paste hop hip jam, very boss. The re-return of Steinski continues apace on 'Vox Apostolica', wicked cut 'n paste track and the sick wizard Z-Trip again excites on 'Backyard Banger'. Peanut Butter Wolf jams with Madlib, Freestyle Fellowship return to their best and LA producer Omid shines bright on his two features. Chief Xcel goes solo for the final cut 'Multitude' a cinematic Soleside instrumental missile to blow your speakers up. One of the best hip hop music based compilations of the year is here and vinyl is on the way, so either peep the digi or rest for a good waxing. Incredibillyfine.
