Boomkat Product Review:
A psychoactive enigma of shadowy provenance from the Opal Tapes quarter. Reading the inlay of 'Confused In Reality', the "all music by Traag / sound engineering by Nate Young" line leaves us little the wiser to Traag's indentity - there's no info online - and raises the question to what extent is the Wolf Eyes alchemist Nate Young responsible for the sound? Is it even him behind the whole thing??? Well, that's partly the beauty of this killer trip, the other being, quite obviously, its mind-bending mastication of industrial memes and the grottiest cyberpunk electronics. It's as though we've undergone a 'Regression Session' to be transplanted in a previous life somewhere around Frankfurt circa the late '80s, wandering the labyrinthine corridors of a private EBM pleasuredome, sampling prototypical Dutch pharms and stumbling from one blacker-than-black room of sado-masochist ritual to the next, occasional strobes picking up the hunched figures of grimacing men and women at banks of machinery pummelling thru their thirteenth hour of non-stop tweaking or conducting seances with cybernetic spirits from the future. We like this one lots. RIYL Nate Young, Mordant Music, blacking out in strange places.
