Boomkat Product Review:
Pépé's been doing his thing for years now, turning out a heap of killer house joints crafted to his own very exacting specifications for a hosts of labels. It may be true to call him something of an auteur in his field, as he incorporates jazz, techno/house, broken beat and defined African influences into a heady polystyle rhythmbrew that's won him acclaim from many corners of the dancefloor. Inevitably a load of artists have sought Pépé's touch for their own records, leading us to this first collection of his remixes for other acts. While the source material for these remixes comes from a disparate bunch of cats, Pépé nearly always manages to turn it into something worthy of much closer attention. Split over two discs this comp includes his commissions for Iz & Diz, Cheek, Alex Gopher, Chateau Flight, Roy Ayers, Cesaria Evora, International Pony, Zero 7, Charles Webster and Pete Namlook among others. Classy.
