Boomkat Product Review:
Vessel collaborators Manchester Collective return to Bedroom Community with four widescreen Nyman-esque compositions that show off their taste and skill.
Having worked with South African cellist Abel Selaocoe and violinist Rakhi Singh and staged a production of Arnold Schoenberg’s avant-garde masterpiece Pierrot Lunaire, Manchester Collective have evolved into a reliable unit in the few years since their formation in 2016. "Company" is their second release for Bedroom Community after September's "Recreation" and follows their popular run of COVID-19 lockdown isolation broadcasts that were watched by tens of thousands of fans across the globe.
On "Company" they tackle cinematic classical minimalism, working across four parts of a unified whole and showing quickly why they're in such demand. It's sublime music that will appeal to soundtrack fans and avant-garde aficionados alike.
