Boomkat Product Review:
Dirt Crew's James Flavour and Break 3000 follow up on their Collection 01 compilation with this line-up, drawing on various favourites from their own label, including tracks from Tigerskin, Chopstick & Johnjon (worst artist names ever?) and Dirt Crew themselves, both individually and as a duo. There's a clearly defined theme to all this, sticking to contemporary microhouse sounds with a dash of melody here and there, even bursting out of the minimal box on certain tracks - such is the case with the big chords of Daso's remix of Break 3000's 'Bleed Like Me'. Elsewhere Tigerskin submits to an overhaul by Till Von Sein, who digs into 'Peter's Secret Weapon', supplying a touch of funk and Detroit-style elaborate synth work, all leading into the bare-bones, percussive climax of Lukas' 'Lyme Park', which finishes the album on a deftly reductive note.
