Boomkat Product Review:
SVBKVLT's Osheyack & Nahash show off a raging set of post-Fractal Fantasy club mutations here, with staggering remixes from Nkisi and DJ Marcelle.
Osheyack & Nahash's 'Hold Pattern' was one the clear standouts from Shanghai label SVBKVLT's stunning "Cache 01", and "Club Apathy" builds on that promise with a devastating combo of hi-bpm dancefloor pressure and interplanetary sound design. The title track affixes a modulating Sinjin Hawke-like robotic vocal to chattering kicks, while whipping screeching, overdriven trap rhythms into a beating, warehouse-primed 4/4. 'The Heel' is our pick of the bunch, a ruff roll of gunshots and sub bass that sounds like it should have been the soundtrack to an ultraviolent futuristic video-game set in 2099.
Eccentric Dutch mainstay DJ Marcelle turns up for an expectedly bizarre rework of 'Less Than A Pound Of Flesh', dissolving the dancefloor-ready trappy original into a collapsed skeleton of farm animal sounds and off-beat breaks. Nkisi handles 'The Heel', upping the dystopian neon glow and shaping it into a grim late-night soundscape, punctuated with ominous, beating syndrums.
