Boomkat Product Review:
A thistly batch of EBM bangers from NGLY, making up his debut album Cities of Illusion after 12” shots fired on Russian Torrent Versions and L.I.E.S.
Patently aware of classics from Ministry to Severed Heads, Front 242 and Klinik, your boy Sidney Reilly a.k.a. NGLY thusly has a good idea of where to go next, warping their original templates to a queasy, ‘floor churning impact that’s more in key with contemporary needs.
We spy at least four proper killers, splayed out between the wickedly titled , drunken stagger of Sydney Reilly and the Reillys and the exquisitely piercing synths ’n swing of Infiltrating Parallax on one plate, and certainly in the unhinged K-hole slide of Billy S and the warmer electro respite of Strange Expression, which is, ironically enough, the straights tune here.
