Boomkat Product Review:
The second of V/Vm's offerings this week is an absolute treat. Leaving aside the sonic decimation that they are famed for this is a bold step in an entirely different, non gimmck based direction. Host are, allegedly, a recording collective hailing from Poland. 'Cin' is best described as an ambient collection that shows just how talented these boys are. Based around traditional Eastern European folk pieces. Tracks like 'Dipping gently southward' are based around minimal piano pieces put through the subtlest of digital processes which at times often sound like a certain Richard D James circa 'Selected Ambient Works Vol 2'. V/Vm have always had a knack for succesfully transferring known music into entirely new contexts, usually this means putting the music through the blender and releasing the aftermath. This collection, however, is a more cerebral affair that should be checked by anyone interested in minimal music. A bold, and most welcome, step for V/Vm.
