Boomkat Product Review:
Anthem alert! One of our top 5 dubstep producers (if we're playing that game), D1 is the brilliantly consistent skills behind a sparse but perfectly formed back catalogue of winners for Tempa, Soulja, and now Dub Police. 'Chocolate Orange' is just pure heat, aligning everything that's great about dubstep (the swing, the subs, the production levels) with the best elements of LDN Funky (distinct Afro-rhythms, irresistable dancefloor intent) for a unique hybrid similar to that forged on 'I'm Loving'. He pulls no punches on his remix of Conquest's 'Forever' too, easing us in with super-luxuriant synth pads before working it with a percussive killer that should find favour with anyone who loves to dance. The big room house dynamics may be a bit much for some hardcore dubstep heads to take, but for us there's hints of Moritz Von Oswald, Mala, Hardhouse Banton, Burial and most definitely D1, and if that combo doesn't get you hot under the collar we can't help you. The best thing on Dub Police, ever. Immense!!!
