Change in a Dynamic Environment EP 1
Untold returns after a bit of a hiatus with the first in a planned trilogy of EP's under the 'Change In A Dynamic Environment' heading - producing one of his oddest, most striking and finest releases to date in the process. "Motion The Dance" kicks things off with razor sharp sound design, offsetting a deep, padded bassline with twisted synths that eventually completely take over - in gloriously unhinged and unpredictable style. "Luminous" is even more maladjusted, delivering a dry percussive arrangement with a slowly building acid line obscuring tempered, beautiful melodies bubbling under the surface. It's left to the gnarly, demented synthline that comes in towards the end of the track to completely f*ck with your expectations though, shifting emphasis towards something much more intense and brutal. Both tracks offer precision tooled 4/4 variants built with a measured sense of aural anarchy - just f*cked enough to make us tilt our heads quizzically a couple of times, without ever compromising their propulsive function. And in our books - that's some achievement.
