Boomkat Product Review:
Nurse With Wound's classic 1979 debut 'Chance Meeting On A Dissecting Table Of A Sewing Machine And An Umbrella' is finally available on download. It was originally released in the halcyon daze of the Industrial/Early Noise movement, back when NWW were a trio including Steven Stapleton, Heman Pathak and John Fothergill, exploring a freeform and experimental fusion of electronics, guitar, FX and tape loops. For the uninitiated NWW fall into the same school as Throbbing Gristle, SPK and Z'ev, only with their own sinister and arcane methods, favouring lengthy collage style structures like the harrowing 'Blank Capsules of Embroidered Cellophane', and rhythmic textural manipualtions on 'The Six Buttons Of Sex Appeal'. For this special digital edition there's also the abstracted vocal mutilations of 'Strain, Crack, Break' featuring sometime contributor and legendary Industrial engineer Colin Potter besides David Tibet. F*cked.
