Boomkat Product Review:
Andy Jenkinson returns from the lab with another batch of alchemical acid for your gurning pleasure. Coming on strong with a much deeper vein of melodic 303 action, his Ceephax project must have hit puberty or something as the selections veer away from the inebriated party styles of previous releases to richer and matured sense of melody and grunting low end distortions. His balls drop on 'acid highway' with some moody Detroit influenced synth pads over a restrained midtempo jackin beat, before the hormones kick in on 'red dx' no less moody but a fair few bpm harder. 'acid whorl' finds his 303 voice breaking to a grinding acid funk rhythm worthy of his peers Aphex or LFO, while 'acid causeway' starts experimenting with illicit substances on a frantically fractured mindtrip. He finds his head again on 'tough grugoy acid' with a grimacing hard jack workout before hitting a wonky patch with some brain-bent detuned synths inna trance-gone-wrong style over punishing 909 rhythms on 'acid surf dream'. Fans of Aphex's analord series need to give up their lunch money or swap a pack of bines for these badboys (disclaimer - boomkat does not accept bines as legal tender). Ace.
