Boomkat Product Review:
A cherished secret weapon round these parts, Kareem's 'Caspian Gold' strikes an oily black vein of the gloomiest Industrial Techno imaginable. Without resorting to bludgeoning techniques most commonly associated with the genre, 'Caspian Gold' is imbued with a gothic sense of stealth and guile that's practically peerless in it's realm. Rhythms are churned off the bones of conventional Techno axes, riding the offbeat with a tensely tucked-up and forceful funk while the cavernous atmospheric treatments affect with an indelible impression. Between the thunderous funk of 'Botas', the quicksilver syncopation and tunnelling ambience of 'Amec' or the bone-chilling baroque stoicism of 'Tbilisi', you've got one of the finest dark Techno records of the last decade. Essential for fans of Raime, Regis, Vatican Shadow.
