Boomkat Product Review:
From the first volley of Mark Ernestus & Jeri-Jeri bombs, ‘Casamance’ catches the Senegalese group and german producer just hitting their stride
The title cut features spellbinding dual vox by Ale & Khadim Mboup spiralling around tuff bass and devilish percussion, before the dusky warm croon of Mbene Diatta Seck comes into play on the grubbing, in-the-pocket hustle of Sama Yaye.
Both tracks' killer instrumentals are versioned by Ernestus on the flip, opening slippery new space between the darting drums and bass where we find slivery flecks of guitar on Casamance, while the drums properly shake a tail feather in the Sama Yaye version.
