Boomkat Product Review:
Konx-Om-Pax with five bleak-to-warm electronic pieces for Superpang’s series of missives.
The ‘Cabin Fever EP’ metaphorically spells out the artist’s feelings on a lockdown spent between Berlin and Athens up to the winter of 2020. It includes additional instrumentation by Spherical Aberration and Adam Sinclaire, helping deepen the sound with what sounds like touches of processed guitar and extended wind tekkers, but that’s speculation on our behalf.
The handful of pieces appear to chart a course from pensive to optimistic feels, concisely conveying their mood between the still but plangent siren calls of ‘Along The Mountain Road,’ thru the yawning inharmonic drones of his topical nod ‘Barnard Castle,’ leading to more leaden sort of pessimism of ‘Extreme Prejudice,’ and ultimately arriving at lighter conclusions with the Greek sounding scales of ‘Poustina’ recalling aspects of Christos Chondropoulos, and the dreamy but curdled ambient kiss off ‘Night Night.’
