Boomkat Product Review:
Italian ice-wave princess, Mushy gives up the delectable synth romance, 'Breathless', her first solo album of the year and 2nd for Mannequin, proceeding splits with Ruth and Meddicine and a sterling 7" on Haute Magie. She's only recently arrived on our radar, making a very strong impression with the picture perfect shoegaze drift of 'My Life So Far' and we can see this LP going down as a genuine must-have for fans of Tropic Of Cancer, A.C. Marias, the Cocteaus, etc. Entirely realised, sung and produced by the Milanese artiste, it blends a darker Italo elan akin to our personal faves Fockewulf 190 with the finest traces of what came out of the Dome studio circa 1982, marrying efficiently minimal, body-wise motion with heart-aching melody and most of all, that voice. It's not the strongest, nor the most heartbreaking, but there's something fragile and yearning about it that really pushes our buttons with uncanny effect. Recommended!
