Boomkat Product Review:
Another fine single on Captured Tracks, 'Breathe The Fire' is a dark, whispered affair redolent of late '70s / early '80s post-punk and proto-goth sounds. It's a fairly faithful retread of sounds previously touched on by the likes of Joy Division and The Cure, but this San Francisco band pull it off better than most. The Soft Moon back up their A-side with 'Phantoms', another brooding missive that sounds like it's been recorded in some vacant warehouse during 1979. Well made and winningly melodic stuff, in a frosty and aloof sort of way.
