Boomkat Product Review:
Back in stock! Following on from Kiki's first Boogybytes installment, the flaming Bpitch mantle has now been passed to Sascha Funke - with the Berlin-based fella mid-headbang and poised to rock yon dancefloor. Stacked out with the likes of Villalobos, Voigt & Voigt, Sleeparchive and Zander VT, 'Boogybytes Vol.02' is a thematic gradient from Kiki's debut mix, easing you in gently through Efdemin's delicate piano-fed 'Jean', before all robot-hell breaks loose on the Blade Runner-flecked tech of Tomson & Daniel De La Curtis' 'Synthic'. Very much weighted towards the more euphoric end of the spectrum, most tracks on 'Boogybytes 02' seem intent on drawing comparisons with sunsets and the like (not in a Ibiza way mind), with Zander VT, International Pony and Trentemoller all plucked for their most optimistic oeuvres. Including some hard-to-find cuts such as Isolee's 'Speak and Spell' edit of Villalobos' 'What You Say Is More Than I Can Say' and the closing 'These Days' from Phantom Ghost, Sascha Funke has succeeded in making the kind of mix that holds its own on both the dancefloor and home-stereo - an achievement that deserves more credit than is often afforded. Don't let the boogy-bugs byte!
